Hungary's Csárdás dance tradition has been officially inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The announcement was made on December 4, 2024, during the UNESCO committee's meeting in Asunción, Paraguay.
 
The Csárdás, a dynamic and emotionally rich couple's dance, has been a symbol of Hungarian cultural identity since its origins in the 18th century. Known for its improvisational style and energetic movements, it remains a cherished tradition performed at festivals and cultural events. This recognition underscores the global significance of the Csárdás and highlights the importance of preserving it for future generations. Celebrations and performances are planned to share this vibrant piece of Hungary’s heritage with the world.
