According to the findings of OECD’s annual report on education, a growing number of children take part in education in Hungary, and teachers’ salaries have also increased, the Ministry of Human Capacities (Emmi) reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, 92 percent of children aged 3-5 takes part in kindergarten or primary school education (figure for 2018), whereas the corresponding average of the OECD member countries is 88 percent. The report adds, furthermore, that whereas in the OECD member states the salary of a teacher with 15-year experience and the highest qualifications rose by 5- 7 percent from 2005 to 2019, in Hungary, growth compared to the year before the teacher career model was introduced was 37 percent even in real terms. On-the-job-training plays an outstanding role in Hungary also in international comparison; those with vocational qualifications have good placement chances, and teachers’ wages keep rising, the Ministry for Innovation and Technology (ITM) quoted the findings of the annual OECD report on education. The paper underlines that all vocational school students take part in practical education in corporate environments, and the 100 percent indicator of on-the-job trainees exceeds several times the 34 percent average of the OECD countries.
