On the recommendation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee of the Hungarian National Committee of UNESCO, four new elements were added to the national list of intellectual cultural heritage

In 2023, we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the creation of the UNESCO Convention on the Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Human communities carry a rich diversity of living heritage, including practices, representations, expressions, knowledge and skills that still give meaning to our daily lives.

On 15 September 2023, the national opening of the Cultural Heritage Days event series took place in Budapest, organized by the Hungarian National Committee of UNESCO and the Hungarian National Committee for Intangible Cultural Heritage. The main patron of the event was Mr János Lázár, Minister of Construction and Transport .

On the recommendation of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Committee of the Hungarian National Committee of UNESCO, four new elements were added to the national list of intellectual cultural heritage:

 

 

The living tradition of the wedding in Boldog, as well as the associated folk song, dance, costumes, embroidery and folk customs,

 

 

 

     the veneration of St. Martin,

 

 

 

 

 

 

the living tradition of Serbian gold embroidery in Desk,

​​

 

 

 

 

   and the tradition of Holy Blood in Báta.

 

 

 

 

The event was followed by the European Heritage Days program with series of events in Hungary: more than 550 museums, collections, castles, etc. in nearly 200 locations - including in the countryside opened its doors, providing free visits to the interested public.
