The Government of Hungary has decided to present its candidature to the Executive Board of UNESCO at the elections due to be held during the 40th General Conference in November 2019.

Hungary has been an active and involved member of the Organization, contributing to the fulfilment of its mandate in the fields of culture, science and education through – amongst others – taking a lead role in organizing the World Science Forum in Budapest every second year, and financing several projects with the World Heritage Centre aimed at helping the implementation of the World Heritage Convention in Africa.

An exhibition presenting Hungary’s contribution in the fields of culture, science and education was on display in UNESCO Headquarters from between the 30 September and 7 October 2019.
